Aurora, IL is a quaint city that lies in Dupage, Kane, Kendall, and Will counties. Aurora is a suburb of the city of Chicago and is the second most populous city in the state of Illinois. Aurora is the 115th largest city in the United States. Aurora was originally founded within Kane County but has since grown into the neighboring counties mentioned above. Aurora has been primarily known as a manufacturing center since its inception. Aurora was the 34th fastest growing city in the United States from the years of 2000-2003. Aurora continued that growth until 2009, when the U.S. Census Bureau ranked Aurora the 46th fastest growing city with a population of over one hundred thousand people.

In 1881 Aurora, IL was one of the first cities in the entire United States of America to implement an all electric street lighting system. Hence, the nickname of “City of Lights” was officially adopted by Aurora in 1908. Aurora's historic downtown situated on the Fox River is centered around the beautiful Stolp Island. The city is commonly divided into three separate and distinct regions. The West Side is demarcated as the area west of the majestic Fox River. The East Side of Aurora reaches from the east bank of the Fox River to the Kane County and DuPage County line. The Far East Side/Fox Valley is from the Kane and Dupage County Line to the city's eastern border with the neighboring city of Naperville. Other towns adjacent to Aurora, IL include Montgomery, North Aurora, Sugar Grove, Batavia and Oswego.
